Synthesis and Evaluation of Eco-Friendly, Ambient-Cured, Geopolymer-Based Bricks Using Industrial By-Products

Geopolymer-based sustainable red mud bricks (SRMBs) were cast using industrial by-products under ambient curing. The ingredients used mud, fly ash, ground granulated blast furnace slag and alccofine, along with quarry dust alkali activators as binders. This paper briefly presents the characterization, strength durability studies conducted on SRMBs. optimization techniques to fix right mix proportions. optimized proportion was identified R45F40G10A05: 45% 40% 10% 5% alccofine. compressive, flexural split tensile of ambient-cured specimens after 28 days observed 35.38 MPa, 6.4 MPa 1.67 respectively. results analysed validated by finite element method Analysis Systems (ANSYS) software. percentage water absorption in SRMBs less than 6%, it an entirely efflorescence-free product a pleasing appearance colour. Fifty percent targeted compressive acquired three are green casted encapsulating into functional building element. Thus, suitable alternative conventional clay burnt bricks.
